How to Protect Your Pipes from Freezing Temperatures

When it's cold outside, remember that just a little water goes a long way. You can protect your pipes and reduce the risk of freezing with a few simple techniques. First, insulate your outdoor pipes before it gets cold. When the temperature drops below 32 degrees, run a spaghetti-thin stream of water from ONE faucet the farthest away from your water meter. Should your pipes freeze and break, immediately call a plumber and turn your water off at your main valve. For more information, visit our Fighting the Freeze page.
